Zoom plans to be more secure in its paid version

When a free application is very successful, we run the risk that in the end one way or another we will have to pay for its services. In a certain way, application development companies do not live off the air, and one of two, either include advertising in their apps, or you have to pay for them.

Zoom has come under fire for the past year for the lack of security in its video conferencing application. even some governments of different countries have prohibited their officials from using Zoom for business videoconferences. Despite all this, it continues to have many millions of users who use it daily, and more since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Zoom has publicly announced that it plans to tighten encryption for video calls to help increase user safety. As published Reuters, the company plans to implement this stronger encryption just to paying users by Zoom, not those who use free basic features.

Since the beginning of the year, Zoom has had a massive increase in users due to the pandemic of COVID-19. With that increase, however, have come a number of privacy and security concerns that Zoom has been working to rectify. The company has implemented corrections and policy changes, and has repeatedly outlined its new emphasis on privacy.

According to Reuters, Zoom now plans strengthen encryption of video calls hosted by clients and payment institutions such as schools and Public Administration offices. Individual users using the free basic Zoom level, however, will not get the improved encryption measures.

It was reported earlier this month that Zoom acquired Keybase, a startup specialized in the exchange of encrypted messages and files. Presumably, this is the technology that will become the basis for encrypted video calls in Zoom.
