Will you install macOS Big Sur right away or will you wait?

Big Sur

One day remains for the apple presentation. In it, the American company is expected to present new Mac models with Apple's new own processor. Apple Silicon is a real revolution for Mac users and not yet definitive abandonment of Intel. MacOS Big Sur is also expected to be released for everyone and the magic question is Will you install it as soon as you leave or will you wait a bit to see what happens?

It has always been said that it is good to wait a while to install the news. With macOS Big Sur, the same thing happens

Whenever something new is launched on the market, it does not matter if it is software or hardware, It is advised that it is better to wait a reasonable time before having it in our hands. With the hardware you can have durability problems of the components or that some of its parts are not as you expected. Something similar happens with software, but in my opinion it's worse. Having performance problems or problems with certain applications can become desperate.

macOs Big Sur is close to reaching our computers and this can be quite a problem. That the computer that you use every day and more now in these times that we are having to live teleworking, it can be very damaging.

My advice is not to install the first version Unless you have plenty of time to troubleshoot and investigate the inevitable problems that inevitably come with the first version. Although the Betas are very polished and when the first version is released it is usually very revised, there are always obstacles.

It's easy to update, but much harder to go back.

Big Sur macOS

If you upgrade to macOS Big Sur, there is no easy way back to Catalina. You will almost certainly have to erase the disk, reinstall macOS 10.15 Catalina, and then restore the data from a backup. Unless you have a clone of your startup disk. That implies that you can see that you have been without your Mac, for several hours.

So it doesn't seem like a very bad advice not to install the first version of macOS Big Sur. It is convenient to wait for those people who second teams or who can solve the problems that may arise, install it and "act as guinea pigs". The most sensible thing is to wait. Unless, of course, you don't use your computer too much and only use it very occasionally.

There are a lot of applications that will not be updated to the new operating system. Some of these applications are already warning their users and they advise not to install the new versions for now. These developers are getting ahead of the likely problems that may arise. Nevertheless there are others that won't be seen until macOS Big Sur is installed.

Few or many of the existing applications may be on your Mac have a problem with the new version of macOS Big Sur software. That is why it is more than convenient not to install from the beginning and wait to see how its inclusion evolves on the computers of other users.

We are not talking about updating some security protocols or fixing bugs that have been found. We are talking about a complete update of the operating system that will change the way you work and work on your Mac. Therefore, you can wait until you can install the new version. Let us not rush. You have to keep your patience intact and observe what are the problems that may come along with the new update.

The same could be said of Apple Silicon. That we wait to buy the new Macs to see how the new processors created by Apple behave. The decision seems easy. Now, if we all thought the same, no company would do business, right? They would be in the dry dock for the first month. Patience and we'll see how things develop.

I have always waited a couple of weeks before installing a new system. To test what is commented and see if it goes fine. But in this case I am going to install it as soon as it is available. I am very curious and really want to try it. Of course, I am one of those who has backup copies of everything, something that I will never tire of recommending.
