It seems that Apple lately does not refine everything that its software should and what at first seemed isolated cases, have been increasing during the 48 hours it has been available for download the latest version of OS X El Capitan 10.11.4. I am referring specifically to an increasing number of users who are unable to log into iMessage and FaceTime after upgrading to OS X 10.11.4.
There are already several open posts in the Apple support forums in addition to several complaints in other publications and on social networks. I sincerely understand that some inconvenience can always arise, but they have been published to date seven beta versions public, which offers developers the possibility of correcting errors globally given the number of users enrolled in this type of beta programs, some specific failure being understandable (nothing is perfect), but login errors in applications as important as Messages or FaceTime… no comments.
Most of the complaints come from users who performed a fresh installation of OS X, which requires login with your credentials to use FaceTime and IMessage services. When trying to log in, I get an error saying 'Failed to log in. Please check your network connection and try again »or nothing happens after entering the Apple ID and password.
One of the users who purchased a MacBook commented:
I bought a new 15-inch MacBook Pro yesterday from the Apple Store. Out of the box had OS X version 10.11.1 installed, but nevertheless I could not access my iCloud account with my Apple ID. So I had to skip that part of the initial setup. Once inside the system I had to access the iCloud preferences to log in, being able to see my notes, reminders or Safari favorites. But I have the same problem: I cannot access Messages or FaceTime.
Affected clients have not been able to connect since they updated to OS X 10.11.4 And until that moment, there is no definitive solution available to solve the problem. This is not to say that all customers who did a clean install of OS X or who have purchased a new Mac are affected, the only thing that is clear is that there is no clear pattern as to why this happens.
Not only Facetime and Message, in my case it was worse after updating the Bluetooth stopped working, excellent Apple, thank goodness I had a trackpad and enough lightning cables to put everything back on track. The Magic Mouse, better not comment. How the hell do you plan to use the mouse if you have to connect the lightning cable underneath. No comment. I had understood that an update its purpose is to improve the experience of using the equipment, not the opposite, after months testing this update before making it public, they do not offer this. Go disaster. I am delighted with the iMac but this type of error should not occur.
Do you already know a solution?
Hi, I had this problem on my 2011 macbook pro. I was able to fix it. I recommend going to date and time settings, and check the time zone in which it is configured. I am from Chile and this wea for some strange reason changed to the time zone of Cupertino in California .. not only did the time change (which I put in manual before I realized it) but that was affecting the login of iMessage. check to see if it is the same problem on your computers. Greetings!
Hello everyone, in my case, and after the El Capitan installation, when I try to run the full finder (it asks me for password), it extends all the tabs in the menu bar but after 1 second it returns to the simple finder, like Consequently, I can't open finder even with the correct password. On the other hand, I have performed several installations but without success, does anyone know how to remove the password from the finder so that it opens completely? Thanks
Hi, I have a mbp from 2012 and I couldn't log in, to iMessage and FaceTime. So I changed the time setting and all good.
I have the same problem, but I change the time settings and it remains the same, could someone help me?
I also had this problem ("Authentication failed" when logging in to iMessage), which started after an OS update.
After many Apple-supported phone tags, this worked:
1. Open terminal
2. Enter this command: 'sudo rm / Library / Preferences / com. apple.apsd.plist '
3. sudo will require your password
4. Restart your computer
com.apple.apsd.plist is the properties file for Apple's push notification service. This command will remove those properties; They will be recreated as soon as you log into FaceTime or iMessage.
