According to The New York Times, there are a number of applications that iPhone users have made their favorites. Meet the list of the 10 best according to the prestigious American newspaper that examined almost 300 thousand of these tools for the Apple phone.
1. Google: You can find Google through your mobile browser, but having the application will mean a significant time saving. The voice search function, for example, is practically perfect.
Thus, if the user says "Starbucks" the search engine not only tells you what it is, but also uses the GPS to find the closest one. A recent update to the application even allows taking pictures to obtain information on certain objects.
Knowing Google, surely the application will continue to improve. And also, it is free.
2.SoundHound: Perhaps you have heard of Shazam, the application that identifies songs. Soundhound is faster and offers a wide range of auxiliary functions.
You can hum a tune into the phone and it finds the song, says the lyrics, and even gives you a video on You Tube.
The five dollar version allows you to identify an unlimited number of songs. Users who have the free version can only identify five in the month.
3.Hipstamatic: This application is the result of searches of photo editors in the App Store.
It costs two dollars and allows you to customize the photos you take or the ones you have in memory, with a series of special filters.
4 Evernote: it's free, and the company advertises it as a personal digital assistant.
It is a travel notepad that syncs with your desktop and navigation software (also free). Use your iPhone to copy an image, take a photo, record a voice memo, or write a note, and it will appear on your computer (and vice versa).
5.Angry Birds: the classic game favorite of many iPhone users who define it as addictive.
In this game, the user will be a group of birds that wants to kill little pigs, because they want to eat their children's eggs. To destroy the pigs it will be necessary to solve many levels, using only the birds that are currently available to attack and destroy their walls with the pigs of the level.
A puzzle game that will make you think for hours and even weeks. It costs only one dollar.
6.Urban Spoon: a fun application for the iPhone. When starting it, it uses the GPS of the iPhone 3G to find the current position, it searches its database for a list of nearby restaurants, and it randomly offers you a menu alternative.
It's free and will whet your appetite.
7. StarWalk: these apps turn your iPhone into a planetarium. For just three dollars you can discover stars, planets, constellations and more. Star Walk is the most realistic and high quality star guide.
The new version includes compatibility with the iPhone 4 gyroscope, information on the time of sunrise and sunset of the Moon and full multitasking support to be able to use Star Walk simultaneously with other applications.
The most remarkable feature is that once the application is open, it looks for your position using the GPS integrated in the device and pointing the iPhone to the sky you can see the stars that you see in reality but with names, constellations and much more.
8.Firefox Home: Along the same lines as Evernote, Firefox Home is a way to synchronize your desktop and life. Once you load the application and the registry, Firefox will display your browsing history and favorites.
If you're reading an important online document when it's time to leave the office, you can start the app later and pick up where you left off. Get it for free.
9.Quickoffice Mobile Suite: The next time someone e-mails you an Excel, Powerpoint, or Word document, Quickoffice will open and allow you to make quick edits from your iPhone.
You can also create documents with this application, although it is much less useful for this purpose.
Quickoffice offers a way to easily complete work on small tasks while on the go. It costs five dollars.
9.RedLaser: is an application that reads the barcodes of the products.
How does it work? Very simple: we only have to take a photograph of the barcode that we want to obtain information, framing the barcode between the white arrows. Once the photo is taken, the application will take care of the rest, offering us the data it has in its database, which is not very extensive at the moment, since RedLaser is still in BETA status.
10.Quick Calls: This is the honorable mention of the list where the New York Times mentioned all the apps that should not be overlooked. These include Instapaper, CraigsPro +, The Weather Channel, Yelp, Layar, Ocarina and Glympse.
