T just launched Todoist 10, its most ambitious update for iPhone and iPad since it was released. We tell you all the news that makes it incredibly better than before thanks to Enric Enrich, iOS developer at T, which tells us the secrets that have inspired this fantastic multiplatform task manager.
What's new in Todoist 10
"Get more done with less effort", this is the motto of Todoist 10, And hey, they have! Not long ago, and after trying a premium subscription to this task manager for more than a month, I told you why I loved Todoist, why I continue to use it and why I plan to continue using it in the future. Basically reason summed it up like this: «T is a task manager simple, visually attractive, easy to use, multiplatform but, above all, very versatile because the great advantage that Todoist offers is that it adapts to your needs no matter if every day you have to do 5 or 30 tasks, or if these tasks are of greater or lesser importance. T It will help you to visualize them, control them, not forget them and, especially, to manage your time effectively ».
Here you have the promotional video of Todoist 10 "Fresh out of the oven":
I said that after trying the previous one T but I have had the chance to test the beta version of Todoist 10 For about three weeks thanks to the generosity of Dani García, Todoist's Spanish Communications Officer, and the experience couldn't have been better. In addition, we have the help of Enric Enrich, a young developer of only twenty years old who is a member of the Todoist iOS team, who will tell us the keys to the new great update and the secrets of why Todoist is so useful for any type of user .
La new update that just came out on the App Store a few minutes ago (at 15:00 Spanish time - GTM + 2) has been completely "rethought" and "redesigned"; its interface is now even more pleasant and beautiful; its operation, still faster and smoother. And it also includes new functions which keep him, at least, as one of the best task managers. The secret is that the news and improvements have been made from the study of how users use Todoist so that they have been able to detect exactly what they needed to improve and everything that we needed.
As the team itself has communicated through a press release, Todoist 10 incorporates the following new arrivals, and we quote verbatim:
- Smart input (intelligent input)Compiling your to-do list has never been easier. Enter important task information like due dates, tags, and priorities directly into the task field on your iOS device. The smart entry will recognize, underline and immediately classify or categorize all the details for you. Todoist will be able to automatically recognize and properly categorize any natural language sequence that you add. For example: jogging with Pedro every day at 6am starting tomorrow. Our parsing (probably one of the most advanced in the world) is available in more than ten languages (including Chinese) and supports more than 100 rules and 300 standardizations per language.
- Quick add To clear your brain: There are two new ways to quickly add tasks to your Todoist projects:
- Add tasks at lightning speed to any list by simply tapping the red circle in any task or project view. Items added with this option will instantly appear at the bottom of your list / project.
- Add a task in the middle of a list using your index finger and thumb to separate two tasks apart. This action will allow you to quickly add one or more elements here and there. The new task will be shown in the exact position from where it was separated, and will even maintain its hierarchy (if you separate two subtasks apart, the new task will also be a subtask).
- Multi-task editing: now you can increase your efficiency by editing two or more slopes at the same time. Multi-task editing options include: completing multiple tasks at the same time, changing due dates, updating priority status, delegating to a new person, and moving existing tasks into a new project (hierarchy and order will be maintained).
- Start / end dates: Todoist supports expiration dates no matter how eccentric they are. Our revamped natural date options will allow you to create a task like “run a kilometer with José every Thursday at 6am starting on March 29th and ending on October 12th”. The unique programming possibilities are limitless.
- Expandable and collapsible list view: now you can plan and order tasks and subprojects simply by long pressing moving the task to its correct place or hierarchy within a longer project. Hide less imperative tasks to get a full view of your project and worksets; this way you will only see the root tasks / projects. By tapping the root task / project again, all sub-items will appear in the list again.
- Colored templates: personalize your to-do list with Todoist's first color templates. There are 10 to choose from including red, tangerine, sunflower, clover, blackberry, sky, amethyst, black, graphite, or neutral.
As you see, Todoist 10 comes loaded with news that, at the moment, are only available exclusively for devices iOS although they will gradually be incorporated into the rest of the platforms.
enric enrich, iOS developer at Todoist and also creator of the apps Shorts and Veern tells us what has been inspired and what has motivated the tremendous update of T and gives us the keys that explain the superiority of Todoist compared to other task managers:
JA: Since there were previously other task managers, why did the idea of creating Todoist come up?
Enric: Todoist started by focusing on just one thing, what can we do to make users more productive? I suppose that other task managers mark it, but we bet on other characteristics: simple but minimalist design and interface, which pleases the eye and multi-platform, in fact we are in 15 operating systems and we are the task manager on the market with more presence on devices. All with the aim that the user does not have to deal with unnecessary things on their screen, remember that the objective is to be productive and you have to scratch the maximum of seconds, thousandths of a second in time.JA: Why is Todoist better than other task managers for iOS?
Enric: Todoist is more than an app. It is a multi-platform service that helps users / teams / companies to improve their productivity. I can say that Todoist is the best in that field because I don't think there are many similar apps / services. What I think makes Todoist great is having a simple but effective interface, with a powerful set of features behind it that works for both normal and advanced users.JA: Today you have launched Todoist 10, what news does it include that makes it even better than its previous versions?
Enric: Version 10 of Todoist for iOS, the most important update we've had on iOS. Some new features are intelligent input (syntactic recognition of different date formats), ease of using the "quick add" option, editing of several tasks at the same time, or we also introduce color templates.JA: Is Todoist valid for all types of users?
Enric: Todoist was designed for both normal and advanced users, both for personal matters and collaborative team atmospheres. I think teams are the ones that can get the most out of Todoist using tags, priorities and dates, in order to organize their work lives. However, for Todoist 10 we bring more powerful features, in this case for iOS, with better support in basic use such as managing a shared shopping list; for example, when adding an item quickly to the list.JA: In conclusion, why should we try Todoist?
Enric: Todoist is a task manager that already works on 15 different platforms. It is an app that helps you stay organized and productive, regardless of where you are. We are confident that it will work even better on iOS since our mobile applications are already a fundamental part of the workflow of many users.
