These are the Mac compatible with OS X El Capitan

We are a few hours away from the official launch of the next version of the Mac operating system, the OS X El Capitan. In this case, a totally redesigned system is not expected, since what has been taken into account in this case is resolve bugs detected in the Yosemite version and also improve its performance and usability.

However, not all Macs will be able to jump on the bandwagon of the new OS X El Capitan system. As has happened on other occasions, we know that as operating systems evolve, their internal hardware requests also increase and that is why older Macs should be left out.

Today, September 30, is the day chosen by the Cupertino people to put their new system into circulation, more powerful and more reliable than ever. We'll see if we get to the stability of systems like Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. What if what it is clear is that you have to know if the Mac you have is going to be able to make the leap to the next "mountain", OS X El Capitan.

The Mac computers that will be compatible with the system that the apple ones are going to launch today are the same ones that were already compatible with OS X Yosemite and, as we have already indicated, it is not a new system but a substantial improvement the one we already have. Check the following list if your Mac is present:

  • 13-inch aluminum MacBook late-2008 and early-2009 or higher
  • 13-inch MacBook Pro from mid-2009 or higher
  • 15-inch MacBook Pro from mid-2007 or higher
  • 17-inch late-2007 MacBook Pro or higher
  • MacBook Air late-2008 or higher
  • iMac mid-2007 or higher
  • Mac Mini early-2009 or higher
  • Mac Pro early-2008 or higher
  • Xserve late-2009

Where can I see which Mac model I have?

All you have to do is click on the apple on the top bar and enter "About this Mac".
