Apple's Mac Pro is now on sale. That computer that they compared to a cheese grater, without really knowing what was inside it. The most powerful computer of the American company in its most basic configuration starts at € 6.499
However we can add specifications and increase the price of the computer almost until we skip the colors of the amount that we can spend. We have compiled all the configurations that can be made and the prices.
The Mac Pro. A brutal computer even at the price
The base model of the Mac Pro comes with an 3.5-core Xeon 8 GHz processor, with a Radeon Pro 580 X GPU, 32 GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD memory, Magic Mouse 2 and with the tower without wheels. But you can change everything and increase the values. Of course, the price increases almost exponentially.
We have compiled for you all the configurations that can be made on the Mac Pro and see at a glance how the price and its specifications increase.
We start with the processor:
- 3.3GHz 12-core Intel Xeon W, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz - € +1.200
- 3.2GHz 16-core Intel Xeon W, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz - € +2.400
- 2.7GHz 24-core Intel Xeon W, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz - + € 7.200
- 2.5GHz 28-core Intel Xeon W, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz - + € 8.400
Shift for RAM on Mac Pro:
- 48 GB (6 × 8 GB) of DDR4 ECC memory - + € 360
- 96 GB (6 × 16 GB) DDR4 ECC memory - € +1.200
- 192 GB (6 × 32 GB) DDR4 ECC memory - € +3.600
- 384 GB (6 × 64 GB) DDR4 ECC memory - € +6.200
- 768GB (6 × 128GB) of DDR4 ECC memory - € 16.800
- 768GB (12 × 64GB) of DDR4 ECC memory - € 12.000
- 1.5TB (12x128GB) of DDR4 ECC memory - + $ 30.000
Now the graphics or GPU of the Mac Pro:
- Radeon Pro Vega II with 32GB of HBM2 memory - + € 2.880
- Two Radeon Pro Vega II with 32 GB of HBM2 memory each - + € 6.240
- Radeon Pro Vega II Duo with 2x32GB of HBM2 memory - + € 6.240
- Two Radeon Pro Vega II Duo with 2 × 32 GB of HBM2 memory each - + € 12.960
Apple will soon add a Radeon Pro W5700X with 16GB of GDDR6 memory and an option for two Radeon Pro W5700X.
Storage capacity.
- 1 TB SSD - + € 480
- 2 TB SSD storage - + € 960
- 4 TB SSD - + € 1.680
Apple will add an additional 8TB SSD storage option soon, but it is not available at this time.
With this it is assumed that we would have finished configuring the computer. But speaking of Apple, we always have something else to add.
We can add a PCIe accelerator card (Apple Afterburner) which downloads the decoding of RAW ProRes and ProRes video codecs in applications like Final Cut Pro X. For a price of 2.400 euros.
We can also add aesthetic options:
Adding a stainless steel frame with wheels to the Mac Pro will cost € 480.
We can also improve the accessories:
The Mac Pro comes with a Magic Mouse 2, but it can be upgraded to a Magic Trackpad 2 for an additional € 50. Mac Pro buyers can get both the mouse and trackpad for $ 149.
We finished. Now that the FCC has given approval for the Mac Pro to be rack mountable, shortly, we can choose this possibility:
A rack mount option for Mac Pro will cost an additional € 700, as long as we spend from € 7.199
Since I know you're going to do the test, don't worry, I've done it too. I have set up the Mac Pro, with all the more expensive options that can be added. This way we will see how much we would have to spend on a computer that far exceeds those that we find in the market on a regular basis.
The Mac Pro with a 2.5GHz 28-core Intel Xeon W processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz; 1.5TB (12x128GB) of DDR4 ECC memory; Two Radeon Pro Vega II Duo with 2 × 32 GB of HBM2 memory each; 4 TB SSD; Apple Afterburner; Wheels and kit mouse like trackpad: +
62.568€

But listen we don't have the screen yet. We can add the Apple Pro Display XDR with nano texture for € 6499; The Pie Pro for another € 1099 and the adapter for another € 219
Although without wanting to look like the famous 1,2,3 program, the total price amounts to:
€ 62.568 + € 7.817 = € 70.385
I leave the comments to you. I'm still really seeing how much money it is.
