Many are the rumors related to the dismemberment that the iTunes application will suffer with the next version of macOS. iTunes had become an application with too many functions that caused that its operation was not the most optimal, regardless of the equipment where it is installed.
Two years ago, Apple removed access to the app store and shortly afterwards also eliminate access to the book store, although from the latter it created a specific application to access both our books and the store that Apple offers us. With macOS 10.15, we will have a new application called Apple Podcasts.
If we visit the iTunes website of our favorite podcast, which in this case should be the one we do in collaboration with Actualidad iPhone, we see how the link that previously invited us to listen to it through iTunes, now shows us Listen on Apple Podcasts. If we click on the link, the iTunes application on our computer will automatically open.
This change reconfirms that iTunes, as we have known it in recent years, will cease to be what it was to probably become an application to make backup copies of our iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and allow us to copy content to our device.
It is also likely that in addition to iTunes and Apple Podcasts, the Cupertino guys will release a standalone application to enjoy Apple Music without having to use iTunes. In this way, Apple could add the same functions that we can currently find in the application for mobile devices.
It won't be until the June Developer Conference, WWDC 2019, that Apple show us what it has planned to do with iTunes on the MacAlthough after seeing the different moves he's making, like this one, and the rumors, you'll just have to confirm them.
