Executive movements at Apple never cease and the news of Sabih Khan's appointment as Senior Vice President of Operations at the company reached the media a few hours ago. In this case, it is not someone new who will occupy this position, although it is true that many of Apple's executives and employees are not usually visible to the general public, so it is normal that we do not have them present. In this case, Khan has been working at Apple for about 24 years, and from now on will be in charge of the company's global supply chain as Senior Vice President of Operations.
Khan has played a very important role in the production of all the innovative products that Apple has brought to the market since the late 90s, as he has been in command of key operations and the supply chain, according to Apple. His superior in this regard will remain Jeff Williams, who holds the position of Apple's chief operating officer. In his new role, Khan will lead Apple's entire supply chain, ensuring product quality and overseeing planning, manufacturing, procurement, logistics and distribution.
In this sense, the Operations team is responsible for growing the global supply chain and speeding up the modernization of manufacturing processes, which includes, among other things, the development of a new aluminum alloy that Allows 100% recycled aluminum to be used in MacBook Air and Mac mini cases without this affecting the final quality of the product. This is one of the tasks of this team that also focuses on environmental initiatives by collaborating with its suppliers to promote sustainable manufacturing, which allows us to conserve resources and protect the planet.
Khan came to the Cupertino company to serve on Apple's purchasing team in 1995, and previously served as a development engineer and technical account manager at GE Plastics. He received a BA in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Good luck in the new position.
