It appears that one in ten virus-infected Macs has Shlayer. We all know that macOS is a very secure platform with very low rates of viruses detected, if we compare it with Windows or Linux, for example.
This malware is running like foam. In misleading ads in browsers, domains expired and reactivated by malware distributors, etc. It has been accommodated in many fake Flash Player installers. If you still have it installed on your Mac, uninstall it now. It is outdated software and a potential Shlayer entry if you update it.
Fake Flash Player installers are a very effective Trojan horse today for viruses and malware. Many have stopped supporting or have completely removed all support for Flash Player. Safari for Mac plans to stop supporting it in its next version.
Flash is dead. there is no reason to install it. If your Mac is recent, it is most likely that you no longer have it installed. Do not install it under any circumstances. If today you enter a website and it asks you to install Flash Player for its correct viewing, don't do it and run away from it.
If you have it installed, uninstall it using the official Adobe tool for it, from here. Do not download it from another site, as you run the risk that it is already infected with Shlayer or similar. Run it and you will have already uninstalled it.
If you had it installed and If you want to stay calm, you can download a free trial version of Intego's latest protection suite for Mac Mac Premium Bundle, to brand new your Mac and activate real-time protection against OSX Shlayer and the like. If you just want to do a single scan, Virus Barrier Scanner you have it available for Mac in the App Store. I have the full version that I bought on Black Friday at a very good price. Prevention is better than formatting.
Pathetic the commercial you launched. I do not know if because of ignorance or because if not, you do not charge. Still I understand you partner.
