Apple Music's main competitor is Spotify. In its version for Mac, it takes advantage of all the hardware of the Mac. She was one of the first to implement the Touch Bar to control the different actions and today it is fully optimized.
Still, iTunes has certain features that Spotify hasn't implemented. One of them are notifications we receive when a new melody starts to playto. Until today it is not possible to receive this type of notification, neither directly nor through third parties. Instead, today we know that the Notify app will support the native Spotify app.
Interacting the two applications, we will receive information every time a new song starts playing, information relative to title, artist and album. At the same time, in Notify settings, we can select to show us also: the album art, the Spotify logo and the progress of the song. This last function is especially useful when we have paused and after pressing play, we want to know at what point we stopped listening to the song. And all this without going to the Spotify app.
Another relevant function is the possibility of pass a melody. For this we must take into account previously that, by default notifications appear 5 seconds. To have the option to pass the track, we must go to the macOS System Preferences, select notifications and click on alerts. Now we can make a custom adjustment in the notifications that we will receive from Spotify. Between them:
- Run at macOS startup.
- Icon color.
- Receive notifications when:
- Pause or Play.
- Notify with sound o no.
- Include album.
- Change the time we see the notification.
To have access to Notify, we must access Github. It works perfectly despite being a Beta. The operation is correct and today it is downloaded totally free. Of course, since it is not an application from the Mac Apple Store to date, we must give permission to install it. Remember to check the security settings, such as closing the lock after installation.
