Any user who uses his computer in airports, bars or even offices knows that a distraction can cost him the loss of a few thousand Euros, in addition to the information he may have stored on it. For which a series of tools have been developed, most of them free or with a minimal cost if they are for personal use, which raise the alarm when someone tries to steal a computer. There are even some that allow you to locate lost or stolen equipment.
For Mac users, the most recommended anti-theft program is AlertU, which uses the camera and the infrared control of the computer remote control to put them at the service of the alarm. If the program is activated and someone touches the computer, keyboard or trackpad (built-in mouse), the alert that has been programmed will be triggered and the camera will take a photo of the person involved.
Another Mac program is Lockdown, which relies on AlertU's detection capabilities. Regarding AlertU, there is an important difference: a much clearer and more user-friendly interface that allows customizing the detection characteristics through movement, keyboard and power supply sensors.
