Podcast is the exclusive iOS application that allows us to download, subscribe and listen to any radio program or podcast that is uploaded in iTunes, without having to search for third-party apps. Apple was the first to include a native app for this type of content in its operating systems, and now other companies are beginning to create their own, seeing the potential of this type of content.
With iOS 10 we have seen changes in the interface of many native applications and quite a few elements such as the Control Center or the lock screen, which we already talked about in an article commenting that its use is being promoted and its usefulness. Despite having redesigned the appearance of Apple Music, the Podcast app has remained with the same design as it had in previous systems.
iOS 10 and Podcasts without redesign
Many of us were surprised during the keynote when they showed us those large and dark letters that dominated the interface of the Music app. They also changed the appearance of the player and the size of the icons. The problem is that for the Podcast application they have not introduced anything new or modified anything visually. The only thing is that now we see our podcasts a little larger, but the playback bar that we can open or from which we can pause the program remains the same as before. It has not changed. Does that mean that Apple has forgotten about the Podcast application or that they have preferred to differentiate both applications?
I consider that the entire operating system must be according to the same design. If you've wanted to jump into big letters and even bigger icons on Apple Music, I don't understand why you haven't done it on Podcast as well. I listen to programs every day and I see that interface that is getting old. I hope that between now and September they show us some change in the betas or at least do something related to this app, which seems to have been abandoned or they do not give it the importance it deserves.
