Parallels Desktop 9 'does not beep' with virtual machines on OS X 10.9.3

A few days ago we saw that some users, especially from the United States, were complaining about the version of OS X 10.9.3 sending a few reports with problems related to the Mac Pro GPU. Now it is added another compatibility issue related to video support in Parallels 9 which seems to affect all Macs with this latest version of OS X.

Some users are complaining on their own forum from Parallels about a black screen issue and virtual machine freeze. They comment that this problem can be fixed by removing video extension from kernel and after the jump we will see how to do it.

The first step to be done is to configure the boot of the virtual machine in 'guest' mode and for this we are going to 'Select boot device at startup' and mark it. Once the menu appears, we have to type -s but we will type 's because our keyboard is Spanish and then command line access appears. Now we mount the disk in read and write mode with the command: mount -o update / and we delete the Parallels video extension with this other command: rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_video.kext then we just have to restart by copying and pasting: reboot

Of course, with this action we can start the virtual machine with a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768.

At first, the beta versions that Apple released for beta testers did not have any problem related to Parallels or the GPUs of the Mac Pro, but apparently in the final version a different configuration of the drivers for the graphics cards was added, achieving greater performance of these that has caused these problems in the software and in some Mac Pro.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in the next version of OS X Mavericks that could be released as soon as the Keynote they have prepared for WWDC ends, next June 2 in San Francisco.
