OS X Yosemite and the use of widgets

Widgets-notification-center-yosemite-0

With the arrival of OS X Yosemite We are presented with many novelties, one of them being the incorporation of third-party widgets to the renewed notification center, which goes from being a simple "aggregator" of notifications to include a different mechanism for how to store these notifications. This new way of adding notifications is directly inspired by iOS 8 since basically, the operation is basically the same.

Now we must bear in mind that this new Notification Center becomes a simple drawer to store everything until we discard it when we open it, to an interface with a translucent aspect that reveals the icons, the part of the desktop, open applications ... below it in a lower layer, this creates a sense of depth in line with the whole new line aesthetic that Apple is following.

The way to activate the notification center is exactly the same as before, that is, with two fingers we can do the gesture from right to left on the edge of the trackpad so that it appears on the screen. You can also use the same functionality of the notification center when a pop-up window with an alert appears in the upper right side by simply clicking on it to open the application associated with it.

As we saw in the iOS version, Yosemite adds widgets for the date, calendar, social networks, stock market, reminders, time, events. If we look at the bottom of the notification center itself, we see an "Edit" button to add and remove widgets, also including those developed by third parties. In addition, it is also possible to reorganize all that we want the arrangement that best suits us, that is, to be able to leave the social networks widget in the first position, eliminate the stock one and add any other from third parties.

Once we have everything ready with the Edit button activated we can adjust the requirements of each particular widget by pressing the «i» button right next to it, where we can also add more places in the time widget or add time zones in the clock widget.

All these functions mean that every day that passes, with developers focused on creating widgets for their applications, they end up leaving the Totally obsolete OS X Dashboard.

There is one thing that I love about the weather widget and it is that it detects that the current location is one of your favorites and does not duplicate it. This in iOS 8 does not happen but it should 😀

last night more calmly install yosemite clean install on a 13 inch macbook pro retina, and ALL WRONG, shadows, the finder appears blank and does not show the files unless the finder relapses or switches to ready mode, it takes excessively long to load web pages, I have 10 megabytes of navigation and it took almost a minute to load pages that with mavericks, it loaded in seconds, apart from youtube, a disgusting thing, I think they still have a lot to polish, and the worst thing is that the mail hangs ... I think it is wiser to wait for 10.10.1 because this is still very green.

I think the problem is in the retina screens because the same thing happens to me but I have seen it on a MacBook Air and I did not have those problems

For now everything is correct on an iMac 27 late 2012 and on a MacBook Pro retina 13 late 2013, without major complications and that the installation is carried out on the corresponding betas since it was aimed at said program. Reinstall the system from scratch without loading any type of application or previous configuration.

Hello everyone .. I would like if you can help me solve the issue of NOT being able to see the widgets.
I have reviewed the services and after the update I do not see apple's own services, because even from safari the share menu does not show me anything and I get NO SERVICES.
And in the Widgets .. none of those mentioned appear ..

I appreciate help with the subject!

Reinstall the system, download the image from the AppStore and run the installer. If you still have problems after that, try a clean installation without loading any previous configuration and try this way, to rule out problems with your computer.
