This Wednesday Office 2016 received an update on Mac that added not only bug fixes but also added new features for all applications such as Outlook or PowerPoint.
This is great news because if you remember, Office 2016 was pleasantly received by users but in its first versions caused a lot of compatibility problems, especially with OS X El Capitan users with various errors such as crashes or unexpected closings. Little by little it seems that Microsoft has been polishing details and now at least from my personal experience, this version is the one that should have been released from the beginning.
In particular, now Outlook users can now take advantage of the full screen mode in OS X Yosemite and in OS X El Capitan, so it is now possible to use this application with split view mode in "side by side" format to view two applications at the same time. For users in the business market, this update makes it easier to use the application in presentations thanks to the full screen format to better visualize the content.
On the other hand, Word users can now save PDF files and export them to flash drives, while OneNote has gained support for a gallery of shapes and the ability to add these shapes to the various open note pages. Both Excel and PowerPoint have new selection panels that keep track of objects and allow users to rearrange them at will.
The update, v15.18.0, can be downloaded directly from Microsoft or installed through Office's automatic update system. Of course, it is necessary that the user have an active Office 365 subscription. I say this because in September when Office 2016 for Mac was launched it was done together with Office 365 and although later editions were launched that did not require monthly or annual fees, they are not updated with the same frequency.
