In one of our previous articles we made reference to the new Apple TV update with the integration of an improvement in security and the future inclusion of the streaming service HBO now, but it is not only on this device but in turn Apple has also released security updates for both iOS devices with version 8.2 and OS X systems with security update 2015-002.
For this reason, Apple released a security update for OS X yesterday to address a handful of vulnerabilities, including the already known SSL failure named "FREAK." This security bug was highlighted last week, where it allowed potential attackers the ability to spy on communications made through Safari.
To be more exact, FREAK is an acronym that stands for Factoring Attack on RSA-EXPORT Keys and that affects certain web encryption operations that include SSL and TLS technologies. If this vulnerability is used for malicious purposes, the flaw could leave systems open to what are known as man-in-the-middle attacks.
Apple spokesperson, Ryan James has already communicated to the press last week that Apple was aware of the problem and that they were working on the updates to which we refer today to rectify the problem. In this case, the company has released security updates for both OS X and Apple TV in addition to iOS iOS 8.2 in which the application for the Apple Watch is also added.
To update your iOS device, you simply have to go to Settings> General> Software update. In the case of Apple TV we will have to go to Settings> General> Software updates and of course in OS X it is simply to go to the Updates tab within the Mac App Store.
