New Flash Update 16.0.0.296 Required Installation

Flashback

Today we woke up with the news that there is a new Flash update for Mac and that we have to do the update as soon as possible since it has been released because have discovered a vulnerability in the previous version.

This vulnerability allows software to be downloaded without giving them the corresponding notice and therefore without our permission. Although this update is available from Saturday, it is not until today that the media begin to echo the news.

If you are a Mac user, you must update Flash for Mac, as a vulnerability has been discovered in the version that existed that allowed websites to download programs to our computer without prior notice.

This update not only affects OS X users, but is also mandatory for Windows and Linux users. The version that we must download has been encoded as 16.0.0.287 for Windows and OS X and as 11.2.202.438 for Linux.

In the case of computers with OS X, which are the ones we are interested in, to know the version of Flash we have installed we must go to System Preferences and at the bottom click on the Flash icon.

Hello, from the preferences it tells me that I have updated to
“Version 16.0.0.296 of the NPAPI plug-in is installed.
The PPAPI plug-in is not installed. »
And yet on the official page of flash appears what you say, 16.0.0.287…. How is it possible that I have installed a version that does not appear on its official website ... ???
