Last September 30 OS X El Capitan was released officially by Apple and since then, Microsoft Office 2016 users have been experiencing and reporting different bugs in the quintessential office software. Now, from Microsoft they recognize the existence of these failures and affirm that they are working on their solution.
Office 2016, a repeat of history
Office 2016 for Mac You are experiencing various glitches in Apple's new operating system, OS X El Capitan. Many users have reported that Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint are quitting unexpectedly, but Office 2011 users are also noticing problems with Outlook.
Microsoft is aware of the Office 2016 issues and has been responding to user complaints. According explain From MacRumors, in a thread on the Microsoft forums, Faisal Jeelani, manager of the Microsoft Program, said that the company is working together with Apple to solve these problems but also affirmed that there is a specific date for that solution.
Microsoft has also made a very similar statement in Computerworld:
We know that some users may be experiencing problems when Office 2016 for Mac runs on El Capitan (…) We are actively investigating the matter with Apple. Until there is a solution, people are advised to install the latest Office 2016 for Mac updates using Microsoft AutoUpdate.
The problems users have been reporting about Microsoft Office 2016 they are really varied. Some just seem to be experiencing occasional and unexpected shutdowns; while others are unable to open any of their applications. Other Outlook users indicate that they cannot access their emails and this particular issue seems to be affecting Office 2011 users as well.
Personally, the problem that I have suffered, and I suffer, is an excessive delay in opening Word and Excel that, sometimes, exceeds two minutes, having had to force exit and restart the app on occasion.
The first responses from Microsoft's support came shortly after OS X El Capitan was released, which indicates that the company has been working on a solution for a few days, however, we still don't know when that definitive solution that we all hope will arrive.
From MacRumors they also observe the anger of many of the users in the Microsoft forums because the company has had months to work on these problems without having to wait for the launch of OS X El Capitan. In fact, the problems of Office 2016 they reported for the first time during the beta testing period, and they are still unresolved.
Anyway, for one thing that I use from Microsoft, and see what plan 😅
