Microsoft OneDrive gets native support for Apple Silicon Macs

OneDrive works natively on Mac M1

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage service. It works really well and also if you are subscribed to the Microsoft 365 service you get additional space that always comes in handy. Bearing in mind that it is a service that is more similar to that of Google than that of Apple (iCloud), it is worth trying it to see if it convinces you, bearing in mind that right now it has obtained the support to be able to be used on Macs with Apple's own processor.

Since last year, Microsoft has been testing in search of the perfect compatibility between its cloud storage service and Macs with Apple Silicon. It has cost his own but we can finally talk about the existence of that symbiosis between the two. On the one hand, the App of Apple's rival and Apple's own processors that for more than a year have been trying to gain total control of Macs.

From the official pages of Microsoft Drive, we can read the following release Regarding this compatibility:

We are pleased to announce that OneDrive sync for macOS is now it will run natively on Apple Silicon. This means that OneDrive will take full advantage of the performance improvements in Apple's silicon chip.

We cannot forget that it has official support for M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. That's why the OneDrive app will run faster and more efficiently on the latest Macs, since the Rosetta 2 translation software will no longer be needed. That is always good news. As they say, better late than never. Although it is true that they have taken it in stride. Many applications have long ago left behind having to use Rosetta as an intermediary. Something that made the programs not run properly or take advantage of all the features of the new Macs.
