There are a large number of applications that help us to know how the weather is at a given moment, but few with the level of detail that it offers MeteoEarth. An application that has a version for Mac computers and iOS and Android devices.
This application helps in a very intuitive and graphical way to see how the meteorological conditions of any part of the planet will go by, since it offers a navigation similar to that already offered by Google Earth with its maps. It is an application, which in its version for OSX allows you to enjoy 3D views of the planet with the possibility of selecting different layers of data such as wind, temperature, rainfall, among others.
This application is an adaptation of the tool used by television networks when showing viewers "Time".
It has been developed by MeteoGroup and has two versions, a LITE y another PREMIUM. The LITE versions have a cost of 4.99 euros for OSX, 2.99 for iPhone and 3.99 for iPad. As for the PREMIUM version we can tell you that it consists of Annual subscriptions at a price of 5.49 euros o subscription for three months at 1.79 euros.
This application has updated to version 1.1 in the case of the version for OSX and as improvements it includes new languages, including Spanish, the possibility of sharing screenshots on the main social networks as well as the possibility of following the evolution of the so famous tropical storms, yes, in case we want to have a vision of more than 4 days of the meteorological conditions, in addition to visualizing the storms among other things, we have to have a PREMIUM version.
Let's now see a bit of the application for OSX. As soon as we enter the application, we see a window that is divided into three fundamental areas. The central area of the window shows the planet and if we zoom with a simple inverse pinch on the computer's trackpad we will get closer to the place where we want to see the weather conditions.
A second area is the upper bar, where we can make the side bar appear or disappear, place a measurement point on the map, toggle between 2D and 3D views of the planet, establish if we want it to be day and night or if we want it to always be day. In addition, we have a slider in which we will be able to vary the hours between the current day and the next. If we want to have a view of four more days, we have to pay the subscription.
The third area of the window seems the most important because it is where we will be able to select the different layers that we want to be shown in a certain section of the planet. We can select the layer from Temperature, Precipitation, Cloud cover (high, medium and low plus rays), Wind, Pressure y Storm tracker. Everything that we have told you so far, in the layers tab.
The next tab is Favorites, in which we will be able to search by name or by postal code for the cities that we want to save in order to see their weather conditions more quickly.
Finally, you have the tin of Scenes, in which you will be able to generate situations with respect to areas of the planet and layers so that you can record each scene and then reproduce them as a film.
Finally, it should be noted that in the application's Preferences, we can modify the units of measurement as well as configure a screen saver that shows us what we specify.
