Today I am going to tell you about an aspect that until now had gone unnoticed for me and has to do with what we can really do with multiple desks, full-screen applications and the Dashboard on the new macOS.
As you already know, if you have been using the Mac system for a while, there is the possibility of having as many desktops as you want and going from one to another with the simple gesture of sliding two fingers on the Magic Mouse or four fingers on the trackpad.
To this we have to add that the applications can be put in "full screen" mode by pressing the green button in the upper left corner. When you press it the application turns into a new desktop and it is shown as such when we invoke the Dashboard.
To invoke the Dashboard what we have to do is make a double touch on the Magic Mouse or move four fingers down on the trackpad. When you do that you will see that at the top of the desktop A second horizontal bar appears showing you the desktops you have created.
If you have put an application in full screen you will see that it appears among the desktops you have created and it is right there where, by chance I have discovered that in addition to being able to put an application in full screen from the Dashboard you can make two applications exist on the same full screen by sharing half of the screen each of them and working as a single screen. To do this, all you have to do is:
- Open the application you want to share on the same screen and put it in full screen.
- When you have it in full screen, you slide to take the system to a new desktop where you will open the second application you want have it on the same screen as the application you already have in full screen.
- You invoke the Dashboard to show you all the desktops you have and drag the window of the second application to the application that is in full screen and you will see a "+" appear when you drop it.
- When releasing the two applications they will coexist in "half" full screen and you can make use of each of them.
