Advanced keyboard settings in macOS

Yesterday I told you how to configure the trackpad of your Mac computers in an advanced way. A process that few people do when they first arrive at the new interface of the macOS system. Without a doubt, the Mac system is a very stable system that Apple has been improving version after version, until reaching what we know today.

It is true that there are times when they have configuration problems or bugs that are quickly solved by updates from Cupertino, but in general it is a very reliable system that will rarely give you a problem.

If you have already put into practice what I told you in the trackpad configuration article, now I am going to tell you what you can configure regarding the keyboard of your Mac. Keep in mind that the keyboard configuration of a MacBook is different, on any of its models, that the configuration of the Magic Keyboard and is that the second has the caveat that it does not have backlighting of the keys, aspect that Apple users have been waiting for many years.

To configure your Mac keyboard we must go to System Preferences> Keyboard. Automatically we are shown a window in which we can see five buttons at the top, Keyboard, Text Shortcuts, Input Sources and Dictation.

on the button Keyboard We can activate or not, if we are on a MacBook, the brightness of the keyboard in low lighting conditions, we can set the time that the computer should have the keyboard on in case of inactivity or show the keyboard emojis in the menu bar, between other things. we can also configure some slides for the time of the repetition pulse and the wait until the repetition.

on the button Text We can configure actions such as adding a period and followed by pressing the space bar twice, correcting the spelling automatically or using initial capital letters automatically. We can also add abbreviations to the left bar that when we write them, it will automatically replace them with what we say.

En Quick functions we have a long list of categorized keyboard shortcuts with which we can speed up data entry.

En input sources You can add other keyboards, in other languages, keeping in mind that you should first buy a Cover for the keyboard in which you can see the modifications of the keys, since in each language the keys are located in different positions.

Finally, in Dictation we can enable the system to listen to us to automatically write what we dictate.

However, these are not the only configurations that we can do and it is that in System Preferences> Accessibility> keyboard, we can configure more options such as, for example, that the keys that we are pressing are shown on the screen, for example when we select capital letters.
