Learn how to use multiple desktops on your Mac

In the last week three colleagues who have arrived new to the Mac world have asked me if there is any way to have several windows open to work with more than one document at the same time without having to be maximizing and minimizing the windows all the time.

The answer to this question is yes and it is not the first time we talk about this on our blog. Apple has this feature implemented in the current macOS and it is called Mission Control and thanks to it, for many years Apple computer users can use multiple desktops at the same time.

In order to use the Mission Control and with it from several desktops on a Mac what you should do is invoke the action either from the laptop's trackpad or with the Magic mouse or Magic Trackpad on desktop iMac and Mac. We tell you this because it has nothing to do how this feature is invoked with the mouse than with the trackpad.

In the case that you do it from the Magic Trackpad or trackpad of the laptop you will simply have to put four fingers on top of it and slide them up. Using the Magic Mouse what you have to do is touch the surface of it with two fingers after which you will see that you invoke the upper bar of Mission Control.

Once the Mission Control is open, you will see that a bar with the current desktop appears at the top of the screen. Well, if you approach the right side of that bar a "+" appears that allows you to add more desktops next to the current one. Now you just have to click on the windows that you have open on one of the desktops and drag them to those new desktops that you create and then have a window per desktop and with it a document per desktop.

Once this action is finished click on the desktop to close the Mission Control and you can switch between desktops simply by moving four fingers on the Trackpad or two fingers on the Magic Mouse from side to side.

It's been a while now that every time I open a new desktop it's exactly the same as the one I'm using, so I just stopped using this function, I don't know what the problem will be, I didn't find an answer anywhere.
