Know the differences between skipping and stopping a certain process in OS X

OS-X-Mavericks-on-a-MacBook-Air

Continuing with the explanations of the Countless tricks hidden under keyboard keys in OS X, we continue talking about the process of moving files in the system.

We already told you that when moving files, you must take into account the number of information channels you open, so that the process becomes faster. In addition, we teach you to move files using the title bar of the file.

On this occasion, we are going to reveal an option that you may have been looking for for a long time. It is about the dialog boxes that emerge when we move a group of files to another location and for whatever reason, one of those files already exists within the new location, the system launches a dialog box asking the user what to do. It gives three options, Save both, Stop or Replace.

Stop

The point is that many users miss the Skip optionSince if you do not want to Save both and you do not want to Replace, you only have to press Stop, so the rest of the files will not be moved to their new location.

If what we want is that the move action be canceled only for the file that causes the problem and that the requested process continue with the rest, what we have to do when the dialog box appears is press the key old.

Skip

Automatically the Save both button becomes Skip, being able to cancel the process for that file and continue the process for the rest.

Hello! It works perfectly for me! It was wasting a lot of time. After selecting 500 files without continuity, if there was only one that I could not replace, and the option was to stop, it was very annoying, because I had to manually search to select all the files again. Thank you Pedro!!!!! Really, I was very, very uncomfortable about this issue. Thanks for providing a solution !!!!

Thank you so much, this article has solved a problem that was taking me too long to resolve. I needed to move photos between hard drives but only the ones that were missing from the backup and there was no way to do it without reading the two listings. Greetings and thanks again.

For a couple of days I haven't got the option to OMIT when I press ALT. In fact, it doesn't change the window. What could be due to? Thanks!
