How to save and use offline maps from Google Maps on your iPhone or iPad

If we go on a trip with our prepared route we can find ourselves in a serious bind if we lose our internet connection however, Google Maps offers us the option of saving our routes in offline mode so that we can consult them at any time from our iPhone or iPad without the need for an internet connection. Today we tell you how to do it.

Saving maps offline with Google Maps

In the first place and logically, we must trace our route. Once we are clear about where we are going to go and how we are going to go, we just have to follow these simple steps:

  1. Make sure you are signed in with your Google account at Google Maps. To do this, go to the icon with three horizontal bars that you will find in the left side menu, within Settings. Saving offline maps in Google Maps
  2. Now click on the button that is represented by a figure and then, within the category "Offline Maps" says "Save map for offline use."
  3. Now you must choose the map you want to save offline. Remember that its size will be the same as the screen of your iPhone or iPad device, so use the zoom to zoom in or out until it is as you like. How to save and use offline maps from Google Maps on your iPhone or iPad
  4. Give it a title and wait for it to finish downloading.

How to use a map saved in offline mode

If we have followed the previous steps we will have saved all the maps that we will need in "offline mode" and we will no longer need to have an internet connection. In order to use them we will do the following:

  1. We open Google Maps and we go to our profile (the icon of the figure we saw earlier).
  2. From there we enter the category "Offline Maps" and click on any of the maps that we have previously saved.

NOTE: Offline maps are saved for 30 days, after which they are deleted, so don't get too far ahead of yourself in preparing your trip 

The application is no longer available in the App Store
