In the Mac Finder there is not as clear an option as in the windows explorer when copying a path in text mode and pasting it so that take us to the desired folder, either because there is an application that we want to open or simply to copy / paste a file in that path. Depending on the program we are using when using the CMD + C combination and copying a file, it may only copy the icon or the content with the program icon, so it is not always effective.
On the other hand, it is true that although we do not have that option, we have others such as show path bar in the Finder to know where we are or simply when looking for the file we want in Spotlight, hold down CMD + ALT while we click with the mouse, which will take us to the folder that hosts it. The problem is that none of these options will allow us to copy the route in text mode.

Today we are going to see some options that help us to insert these routes in text mode without complications
Information
The first one is quite simple, just press CMD + I and open the item information window.
In section General> Location We will have the item's path available, it will only be enough to copy it by double or triple click, ready to paste it wherever we want.

Go to folder
Another option is to open a new window in the Finder, either from the dock or by pressing CMD + N.
Once in the new window we must press Shift + CMD + G to discover the option Go to folder, where we can paste the route so that we want or that we have previously copied to obtain information.

Bus Terminal
Copy the path simply by dragging the item to the terminal console.
It is not necessary to have knowledge in relation to commands, just open the terminal, drag and drop the item in the terminal and it will show us which is the path of the file.

Create a service
If by necessity you have to copy many routes in text mode, we will have Automator do it for you.
We just have to create a new service, and in the upper menu choose The service receives the selection of> files or folders en Finder. Then we will drag the option «Copy to Clipboard» to the workflow and we will have it ready to save as «Copy path to text» and use it whenever we want since it will appear in the contextual menu of any item that we search in the finder at select it with the right button.
Clarify that this does not carry out the action of taking us to the route but simply copy it to the clipboard in text mode.
