The freedom that bluetooth keyboards and mice offer us when working is great. Gone are those times when we had to place the mouse and keyboard cable on one side or behind the monitor to be able to work without tensioning the cable, especially if we are users who like to move both the keyboard and the mouse to adjust them to the position in which we are most comfortable. But not everything is pretty especially if we do not usually use rechargeable batteries for the keyboard and mouse, since they always tend to run out when it is night or on a holiday and we can forget about buying batteries until the next day.
I particularly use the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, both of the first generation. Taking into account that I work almost all day with the Mac, I always have to take into account the battery status of both devices to avoid running out of batteries when I need it most. Default, OS X alerts us when the battery level begins to drop dramatically so that we remember to sign in our reminder app that we buy batteries. But as usual, we usually dismiss the message until the fateful moment arrives.
Check the status of the keyboard and mouse batteries on Mac
- For those like me, who usually dismiss this message, we can opt for the option of periodically checking, better every day, the status of the batteries of both devices through the menu bar. To do this, first of all we go to System Preferences> Bluetooth.
- Then the devices that we have connected to our Mac will appear. At the bottom we must check the box Show Bluetooth in the menu bar.
- In this way we can quickly check the battery level by pressing about bluetooth icon and sliding the mouse to the device in question.
