How to activate messages in iCloud

Apple Messages Icon

Although later than normal, the final version of macOS 10.13.5 is now available for download. And I say later than normal, because the Cupertino guys had thrown the first beta of macOS 10.13.6 For both developers and users of the public beta a couple of days before.

One of the main novelties, we find it in the synchronization of the messages through iCloud, a synchronization that allows us to have the iCloud messages that we send from our iPhone, iPad or Mac synchronized at all times. This function, too allows us to keep messages from our iPhone or iPad when we restore our phone.

If you regularly use the messages application to communicate with your friends or family, and you would like to keep them, we must not only activate this function on our iPhone, but we must also activate it on our Mac, in order to have the messages also available on our Mac and thus be able to keep them, reply to them, forward them ...

Activate Messages in iCloud from Mac

If we want to start using this function, we must proceed as follows:

  • First of all, we open the application Messages from our Mac.
  • Then we go to the Settings of the application, through the top menu Messages> Preferences.
  • Next, click on the tab Accounts.
  • In the right column, click on the box Enable messages in iCloud.

Once we have activated this box, the application will begin to synchronize the messages with our device, so that the same messages are always found on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. Keep in mind that all messages will be synchronized, not only messages that we can send for free to other devices, but also all SMS will also be displayed that we have previously sent or received.
