With the launch of macOS Mojave, Apple introduced a new feature called Stacks, a feature that allows us to group all files of the same type on the desktop. This function allows us quickly group the type of content on our desktop to put order.
However, it is not a solution for everyone, as some users, depending on their needs, may need all desktop items to be quickly hidden to display a completely clean desktop. We can hide the desktop icons through Terminal, but not everyone has the necessary knowledge.
Desktop Ghost Pro is a small application that allows us hide and show all the icons found on the desktop of our Mac quickly and easily. This application is available through the dock and the top menu bar. Within the configuration options we can set it to start every time we run our computer.
It also allows us make use of a shortcut to hide / show all icons found on the desktop of our team. But, if we do not want to hide all the icons of the files that are on the desktop, we can apply a filter to exclude what type of files we want to continue showing.

The first time we start Desktop Ghost Pro will ask us for access to our desktop, a necessary permission to be able to hide and show the icons of our desktop. When icons are hidden, they are not temporarily moved to any other folder, but instead enable the hide files property available in macOS.
Desktop Ghost Pro is priced at 1,09 euros, requires OS X 10.11, 64-bit processor. and application is available in English.
