Finally "selective synchronization" arrives in the new version of Dropbox 1.0 RC

Dropbox, the very popular online storage utility that also helps us keep files on multiple computers in sync, has just completed a milestone. The team has released Dropbox 1.0 RC for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux - more than two years after its first beta saw the light of day.

This new version of Dropbox 1.0 contains numerous bug fixes, performance improvements and it will also consume less CPU resources than previous versions.

Among the new features that Dropbox 1.0 includes, we highlight the desired "selective synchronization", that is, the possibility of deciding which folders are synchronized and / or downloaded to each computer, and which ones we leave in the cloud without downloading them to our hard drives.

The other very useful improvement that we highlight is that you can now share folders even if they are not public in Dropbox. We will simply have to right click on the file in the Finder and select "Get Shareable Link" to obtain a secure connection (https), short link powered by db.tt, that anyone can use to access that file.
