Who does not know this tool on Mac, just point out that Spotlight is the most complete search center that you can find on Mac for both local file search and different terms on the internet. This is achieved thanks to the fact that it carries out a process of indexing the content of the disc at first and in this way showing through different sections what we are looking for, even on the internet.
However, would it be possible to enhance the possibilities of this already in its excellent "search engine"? ... indeed it is like that or at least that's what Nate Parrot has thought, the flashlight developer, an open source project published on Github that makes Spotlight even smarter.
Now in addition to the aforementioned possibilities, animations are added to the meteorological queries, it also integrates the possibility of executing commands from the same application which saves a lot of time by not having to launch the terminal and finally also integrates the Wolfram Alpha database in searches. Actually, as I said, it is not an extension for the notification center or anything like that, but it acts as an unofficial API that other developers can work on to add extra functionality to Spotlight.
This opens up a whole range of possibilities from searches with more detailed and specific options to creating new animations or integrating Shazam-style music listening functions as Siri integrates in iOS. In any case, it must be taken into account that it is an Alpha version and according to the developer's own words, it is still in a very early phase with a lot of hard work ahead. but as a proof of concept for fun it's fine.
