If you are not very happy with the performance of your Mac lately and the dreaded beach ball with its characteristic colors appears more times than necessary, it is possible that the system tries to access different resources but for one reason or another this process slows down.
One of the most common causes is usually storage unit which is not responding correctly so though on Mac not so need defragmentation of files as in other systems if it is true that it does not hurt to be able to verify and repair bad sectors, check the SMART status of the disks, schedule a backup of certain information or, as I have said, simply defragment.
All this battery of tests can be carried out by DiskTools Pro, a maintenance suite for storage units that apart from being able to perform these tasks also has other interesting options such as the possibility of benchmarking the disks, more than anything to check if have lost performance or possibility of programming different tasks, from a backup of a complete volume or a specific folder as well as others related to pure and simple maintenance such as sector repair or file defragmentation on specific dates and times.
In the left part of the main window we will be shown the different disks that we have connected to the system, from image units to physical disks or pendrives where with an auxiliary menu we can carry out all the aforementioned tasks. It also has available an alert in which it will notify us if the state of any of the discs is not optimal or has any type of problem. In general it is a very complete suite in which I have not missed any particularly useful option. It can be downloaded via the MacWare website to a U.S. dollar price 29,99.
