Last September we told you about the imminent launch of a new category of games in the App Store, gamebooks, which came from the hand of an intriguing title, Destiny of Amber. Four months later we review this jewel with a hundred percent Spanish invoice.
Why Destiny of Amber it's so original
The answer to this question is very simple, but let's leave room for intrigue. With little that you have downloaded and played games in the App Store or the Play Store, you will have verified that all games, no matter how different, are based on a single idea: to pass successive tests in a different way until reaching the end. In Destiny of Amber things change, a lot.
Do you remember those books in which at a certain point you were presented with various options and, depending on the one chosen, you would go to one page or another and, therefore, the story would change? Well that's it Destiny of Amber, an unpredictable, non-linear game, in which you make all the decisions by becoming the protagonist and building the future of the game.
What is Destiny of Amber
Destiny of Amber It is set in a totally imaginary world, of fantasy and medieval aspect. In it there is a small village whose inhabitants are being decimated by a terrible disease. Your mission will be to go out in search of a remedy for this contagious epidemic, but to achieve your goal, on which the lives of all the inhabitants depend, you will have to overcome all kinds of challenges, dangers and challenges and, above all, make the decisions that they will lead you to The success or failure.
Your original adventure will start from the moment you open your iPhone or iPad Destiny of Amber Well, you can choose both between one of the existing characters and create your own character under the profiles of explorer or warrior and from that moment on your destiny will be "written" because based on your profile, so will your skills, attributes as well as the different options that you will find in the future of this magical story and your own evolution as a character.
How did the idea come about
The idea of this new category of games that starts with Destiny of Amber arose from those "Choose your own adventure" gamebooks that we mentioned at the beginning but adapted to the new mobile devices integrating their own game system that their creators have called RoleBook System since it integrates some elements of role-playing games into the traditional gamebook, such as character creation, object inventory, own combat and trade systems, and much more.
This original idea arose from the enthusiasm and entrepreneurial eagerness of a small group of friends who decided to put their grain of sand in the form of knowledge and experience to achieve "the game book we would like to play ”. In other words, they have created exactly what they wanted but it did not exist, and this gives it incredible added value.
If you haven't tried yet Destiny of Amber, from Applelizados we highly recommend it because in addition to living an adventure different from all other games, you will enjoy incredible graphics made by the comic artist David Baldeón and the colorist David García, and you will support a one hundred percent Spanish initiative.
