Dashboard disappears in OS X 1 Yosemite beta 10.10

OSX-Yosemite

We continue commenting on peculiarities that we are finding in OS X Yosemite beta 1. In this case we are going to focus on the Notification Center and what even in OS X Mavericks is the Dashboard. As you know, the latter is a screen that is accessed by sliding 4 fingers on the trackpad or using two fingers with the Magic Mouse. In it certain widgets are located by default, which are small applications to do a specific action.

Among the widgets that come by default we find the calculator, calendar, clock and time. This screen is, therefore, the place where Apple located the possibility of making use of widgets within os X. Now, in OS X Yosemite disappears to make way for a new Vitamin Notification Center.

On the new OS X 10.10 Yosemite system that Apple will present in October, the Dashboard has disappeared giving rise to a Notification Center which is accessed by pressing the icon in the upper right part of the desktop. Previously, in this Notification Center the notifications that the system launched were located, either from applications, blogs to which we were subscribed, pending updates, etc. However, now the Cupertino people have thought it appropriate to centralize the Dashboard in the same Notification Center.

Notification-Center-Capture

As early as OS X Mountain Lion, the concept of a notification center was introduced for the first time. Later, in OS X Mavericks, it was improved, but the famous Dashboard still existed. Now, finally, this area of the system is put to better use, exploiting its full potential through the option of adding widgets to suit the user.

Desk-Center-Notifications

One of the things that It is still not clear whether it will be possible to add third-party widgets. For now, the ones that can be used are those that are also offered on iOS, that is, calendar, stock market, time, world clock, social networks and reminders.

As you can see, Apple is improving version after version of its operating system, adapting to the new times and once again making its system shine with its own light and be one of the faster and more reliable.

I find the dashboard redundant, since it is something that can always be activated with a simple gesture, it is something that consumes mac resources, I hope they remove it in yosemite in favor of a single place for widgets (the notification center)
