Native iOS applications that your iPhone has and not your iPad

native apps ios iphone ipad

You may have noticed the subtle differences between iOS for iPhone and for iPad. They look the same, but there are a number of unique features for the iPhone that tablets don't have, such as Battery Saver mode, the pedometer, and some native apps that have been around forever.

IPads lack some apps that are widely used and that Apple has never introduced into the system of its tablets. This is the story of that lost software and the alternatives we have left.

Differences between one iOS and another

When the iPad came out in early 2010, we were shown the device as the future of computers. A tool that at that time was hardly used for creation or work, but which was ideal for social networks, games, reading, surfing the internet, etc. TOAt the beginning the operating system was similar to that of the iPhone, with the difference of the screen size. Little by little they have been differentiating until iOS 9, where the option of opening an application on the right quickly or using two windows at the same time, in addition to the video in the background, was introduced. These features breathed new life into the iPad and vastly improved it, paving the way for the 12,9-inch and 9,7-inch iPad Pros, of which Apple has finally adapted the Smart Keyboard in Spanish.

But today I do not want to talk about the tablet itself as a device at the hardware level, but about its native applications in the most current iOS. If we look at it, we find much less on the iPad than on the iPhone. What are the differences?

Utilities: Calculator, Time, Voice Notes and more

Interestingly, iPad, which is a work device, does not have a native calculator. It forces us to look for one in the App Store and I don't know about you, but I find it quite annoying. I like to open the control center on the iPhone and hit the calculator at any time. On the other hand, on the tablet, I have to go to the apps menu, enter a folder and look for the third-party paid app that I downloaded. As I read once, Apple engineers did not agree on the design of the calculator for such a large screen and ended up giving up due to lack of time. 6 years have passed and we no longer believe they include it.

Something I don't understand is that it lacks a time app, and more now with iOS 10. Third-party apps do not integrate as well with the widgets as the native Weather on the iPhone. It's a shame not being able to have it on iPads. The same thing happens to me with Voice Notes. Something that would come in handy but that we don't have either. Either compass, nor app of Shopping bag. And if you have Apple Watch you will have to connect it to an iPhone yes or yes, no iPad, whether or not it has a mobile data connection. Your data from Health And all the exercise you do is recorded on the watch and on the iPhone, but certainly not on your tablet. This does make sense, since you do not go out with the iPad to exercise, but they could have included it to consult our information from all our devices with iOS.

Two iOS that must be separated

I love this operating system and I prefer it even ahead of MacOS, although on the mobile system you cannot do as many things as on the desktop and it has its limitations. I believe that iOS for iPad should be differentiated on a real level, not only that it lacks basic native apps. I want more use, more file management and compatibility with software and formats of all kinds. I don't think the iPad will ever have its own operating system, at least not for the next few years, but it would have to have its own iOS. That or improve it for both the iPhone and the tablet, turning it into an almost computer, and not a mere tool that can replace it in some other function.

Nice list of apps, I wanted to add a good calculator for the iPad. https://itunes.apple.com/app/apple-store/id1173365557?pt=117865237&ct=CalculatorForiPad&mt=8
