Apple Maps offers public web pages for some points of interest

Little by little the Cupertino-based company continues to improve its map service adding new functions and features. One of the most useful that the company commented to implement last year was the information on public transport, information that allows all users of Apple Maps of the cities where it is available, to move around the city. using only public transport, without having to resort to the use of taxis at any time, as long as the infrastructures and communications of the city allow it.

But it seems that Apple wants to start expanding, beyond its own ecosystem, Apple's maps already begun to offer web pages for some points of interest in some cities, web pages that offer us more detailed information about a place in question such as location, name and telephone number, user opinions, a function that we can currently obtain through the Apple Maps cards in iOS 10.

To access these types of pages we just have to do a search through the suggestions of places that macOS Sierra shows us, which will return results, depending on the case, of the files of the places in question with all that information.

Some of these pages directly open the Apple Maps application, while others will open the web destined to offer that information. Once that web page has been opened, we can click on the option Open Maps to display the location data directly in the application. In addition, in this tab we will also have the opportunity to open a tab in Yelp where we can find photographs of the place in question. In the last WWDC Apple announced that it was working on a new web API for Apple Maps. This appears to be the company's first step in expanding its map services to more ecosystems.
