Google Allo has just arrived and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to talk about her. We do not know to what extent it will revolutionize users and make them change messaging app, but it is already giving many headaches. Blogs and the media have got to work to comment on the features that make this a good app. Not everything is so good nor is it so different from what we already had.
Discover the features of Google Allo. This is the new messaging app that is already available for Android and iOS, yes, do not look for it for your iPad, as it is not multiplatform. We will tell you everything below.
Google Allo: The new WhatsApp
If there is something that bothers me about Watsapp it is its limitation to be on a single device. Yes, there is WhatsApp Web and other alternatives for the iPad, but the iPhone has to be turned on and connected to the same Wifi. I can't do without it just in case a message comes through that app. On the other hand, with others like Telegram I can leave the mobile off because I know that it will come to me the same as the iPad or the Mac. It is called multiplatform and it is nothing new, but apps like WhatsApp do not allow it. Will Google Allo allow it? No, and this I think is a mistake, but that's already my opinion.
I am stopping using WhatsApp. I prefer to use Twitter messages, which are at least answered and read from anywhere. Despite everything, Google has launched to create and develop a series of new apps that require a phone number and that you can only use on the same device. There we have the new Google Allo and Duo. Messages or video calls, a whole suite to choose from. It would be like the redesigned Apple Messages or FaceTime, but limited to a single device rather than the operating systems of a single company. Yes, it has news and interesting elements, but I don't think it will easily convince users.
Google Allo features that differentiate it
Well, differentiating yourself in a world where thousands of new apps come out every day is difficult. Luckily for Allo, its creator has some of the largest web platforms, such as YouTube, the search engine, images, news, Google Maps etc. Some of the best features of Allo are: Temporary chats as something optional, a supposed security that I will talk about below, conversations in incognito or secret mode. Here I have to stop to ask, secret conversations? Aren't they all supposed to be secret since they're private? The difference would be that screenshots could not be taken, which also does not prevent photos from being taken and more.
Continuing with the news, we can also send images, stickers and Gifs. It recognizes our voice as a virtual assistant and helps us even in chat. And of course you can paint on these images and delete messages, although this is the same as in whatsapp and other apps, you delete it and you don't see it but other people do, unless they delete it too.
Not so private; nothing for sure
A great free service in which Google will benefit from the advertising and recommendations you make. It will offer us options such as restaurants or outings. All this thanks to the assistant and the requests we make. But do not forget that the great search engine lives on advertising and user information. This being the case, we cannot ask for much security, and even if we do, it will be useless. They promised end-to-end encryption and that it would be a very secure app. The only thing for sure is that we won't be sure.
The app itself assures you from the first moment that all the messages you send and everything that circulates there will be stored and can be seen by the police if necessary. It is no longer just that the police read it, it is being stored and saved. Your data and your day to day. Posts to leave WhatsApp to find a better alternative, at least this is Telegram or one that allows multiplatform, come on, I say.
