Sparrow orphaned us when Google acquired it. What seemed to be the great alternative to Mail, the native OS X email application, suddenly froze, unable to continue its development. After trying several alternative clients, I move between Mail and Sparrow, because the alternatives are really pretty mediocre, at least in my opinion. But there is hope, because a new application is about to appear, Airmail, and it looks very, very good.
The application visually reminds of Sparrow, that is inevitable. Supports perfectly Gmail, Yahoo, AOL accounts and any IMAP account, and I have not had any problems adding the corporate one for my work that uses Exchange, even accessing the shared folders of the account. Many options in the main window, starting from a unified inbox, in which you can identify the account of each email thanks to the small avatar that appears at the bottom right of each one. The tagged emails will appear with the color of the label on the left, and you can also set filters thanks to the buttons at the bottom, to see only the unread messages, the favorites, with attachments ... It is appreciated that each email appears with the sender's image, and if you don't have it in your contact list and it's a well-known service (disqus, facebook, twitter…) their logo will appear.
I miss Sparrow's quick response feature, but that's not too important either. The messages can be edited almost like in a text editor: font, size, color ... Attaching files is as simple as dragging them to the window. You can also very easily change the account from which you send the message. I don't really like how the recipients are added, since not only my contacts appear but also everyone who has sent me an email ... I think it is something important to improve.
In the application preferences there are many options to configure. Perhaps one that has surprised me is that we can decide which mailbox on our server is synchronized with each of the app's mailboxes, something very interesting and that I had not seen before. The possibility of creating aliases and signatures for each account, or of changing the appearance of the application thanks to different themes are other of the many that Airmail offers us. It also offers the possibility of connecting with the Dropbox account to upload our attachments directly.
In short, an application that shows that it is still in Beta, with aspects to improve and bugs to correct, but that will have to be taken into account and that from now on it stays in the Dock of my Mac. If you want to try it, you just have to go to its official page and request it, in a few minutes you will have the application at your disposal.

How did you add the hotmail? I have tried but the truth I could not: /
Well, according to the sites where I have read, I should be able to configure hotmail with IMAP, but the tricks that usually work have not allowed me to configure a couple of hotmail accounts that I have abandoned. Hotmail does not support IMAP officially, it usually takes some "trick" to get it to simulate it.
According to Airmail specifications, it supports any IMAP account. I have also managed to configure my work account that uses Exchange, but with Hotmail I have not had so much luck. I rectify the information. I'm sorry
I purchased it last night and I have not been able to configure a single gmail account
Does anyone know how to configure the imap exhange account in airmail ?. I am unable.
