Add your covers in iTunes 12 faster

I've always considered myself a bit of a neat freak when it comes to music stored in my iTunes library although not so much for other programs, so having the corresponding album art is for me, almost an obligation to maintain the library consistency. So when I go to order my new music and place the covers of each of the aforementioned albums, I find that the drag and drop option is no longer available.

I still do not understand how it is possible that Apple, having improved the overall design of the application from my point of view, have these small details that cloud the final result. However, the option is still there, but now we could say that it is hidden.

When opening iTunes 12 and selecting the chosen album, it would be enough to click with the right button (CMD + Click) to open context menu and select »Obtain information«, but if you look now only the loading of images from a specific location is available, so the process becomes more tedious, having to search for each folder instead of having the images ready and dragging and dropping each of them.

However, the traditional way with the classic menu is also available as mentioned above, only to activate it we will have to mark the exact same album but this time with »ALT» pressed, we will select the option to obtain information so that it is executed but with the old menu where this time we will be able to drag and drop the image that we want to our liking.

Sometimes the change of look in the interface also involves small changes in the options and not always for the better. In any case, with this little trick you will be able to handle the information of your musical collection as before.

If something works well, why change it? Since the look should not be at odds with the functionality, both aspects unrelated in the update. Let's hope they go back to the traditional method.

Do you know any software that automatically adds covers? In my case I have a very large library and I find it tedious to search for each illustration one by one, since I have more than 2 thousand albums, some already have illustrations, many others do not. And all my music is in iTunes Match, I have searched but what I find has not helped me. If you can help me, I thank you.

I do not understand why the complaint, the drago and drop is still present in the new window and without having to click on "add illustration" you just have to copy the image from the album and in the illustration tab press cmd + v and that's it, or drag the illustration to the empty space.

    regards

Before you could copy the images directly from google and you put paste in itunes, now you have to save it on your computer, even to use drag and drop. I use iTunes from a PC and I don't know how to open the window with the old interface, can someone enlighten me?

Magdalena I discovered to open the old interface on PC, press Shift and everything else the same as before ... with the right button and Get Information ... Greetings.

I have tried all the options you mention, and there are some covers that I can copy and others not.
Add artwork by searching for the file in a folder.
Pasting the image with the old viewer
    with Control + V
Some I can import directly, by searching itunes (Get album artwork) and others not.

    What can be?
    I use Windows 7 and iTunes 12

Hi. With the latest update 12.1.0.50 a few days ago the classic menu (pressing the Alt key) is no longer available and there is no way to place the covers. Does anyone have the same problem? Any solution?
    Thanks and best regards,

You mark the album, right-click, get information, click on illustration and there you can add it, but I don't really know why, the fact is that when I add covers, after a short time, iTunes changes them for others of different sizes.

Every time I have to update the OS of the MacBook Air and the iPhone I get a thousand attacks. In German they use the word 'verschlimmbesserung' to refer to changes of supposed improvement that spoil everything.
I want to see my music with its covers in the 'songs' view of the iTunes Library (or Music) version 1.0.6.10 Catalina, as I saw it in High Sierra: each album with its (tiny) cover in the left column from the song list.
In the title bar of the columns (Artist, Title, Duration, Album, Year, etc. the option to see a column with the covers does not appear. The 'All Artists' view of the Library wastes a lot of screen space, it is a disaster. Help!
