I'm not exactly a fan of the Hackintosh and that should be known to you regulars of the blog, but there are times when we can not do anything other than surrender to the evidence, and this from my point of view is one of them. This is the clearest proof that the Mac mini needs a facelift.
For 420 euros we can do a Hackintosh with this:
- Intel Core i3 3.06GHz
- 4GB RAM
- 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive disk
- nVidia GeForce GT240 with 512MB VRAM
- DVD burner
The Mac mini costs 700 euros in Spain and has a Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM and a 320 GB disk, plus worse graphics. I don't think much more needs to be said.
Obviously, a Hackintosh implies that compatibility, driver and boot problems can arise, but it is still very tempting.
