CUPERTINO, California USA —March 11, 2009 — Apple® today launched the new iPod® shuffle, the world's smallest music player - barely half the size of the previous model - and the first music player that talks to you . The revolutionary new VoiceOver capability lets iPod shuffle tell you song titles, artist names, and playlists. The third-generation iPod shuffle is noticeably smaller than an AA-size battery, holds up to 1.000 songs, and is easier to use, with all controls conveniently located on the headphone cord. With no more than pressing a button you can play, pause, adjust the volume, change playlist and hear the song title and artist name. IPod shuffle features a stunning new aluminum design that incorporates a stainless steel clip that makes it ultra portable.

"Imagine your music player talking to you, telling you the titles of your songs and the names of artists and playlists," says Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of iPod and iPhone ™ Product Marketing. "The surprisingly tiny new iPod shuffle takes a revolutionary approach to the way you listen to your music, speaking to you and becoming the first iPod shuffle with playlists."

IPod shuffle is based on Apple's very popular shuffle capability, which randomly chooses songs from your music collection. Now, when you can't remember the title of the song or the name of the artist that's playing, with the press of a button iPod shuffle will update you on the song and artist. IPod shuffle can even whisper status information into your ear, such as battery life. With the capacity to store up to 1.000 songs and equipped with the VoiceOver feature, you can now also switch between different playlists on iPod shuffle. The new iPod shuffle can speak 14 different languages, including Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Czech, Dutch, Greek, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, and Turkish.

The new iPod shuffle comes in silver or black and is characterized by an ultra-portable design thanks to the stainless steel clip it incorporates. IPod shuffle is the smallest music player in the world, and it's incredibly comfortable to wear at all times, clip-on. IPod shuffle has up to 10 hours of battery life (*).
